Don’t have an SSL Certificate? Google is going to flag your website as Unsafe!

We turn to the internet for everything! From selling to buying, to signing up for sales and tips, so understand SECURITY is EVERYTHING.

On July 2018 Google decided to flag all websites that don’t have SSL certificates. Yes, this will also bring your SEO down, down, down…

So, what is an SSL Certificate? And how does it work?

Put simply, an SSL Certificate (Secure Sockets Layer) is a text file with encrypted data that you install on your server. It’s a standard

security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between

the web server and browsers remain private and integral so all sensitive information and communications between your website and your

audience occur safely . No, it doesn’t apply to just ecommerce transactions, it applies to ANY and ALL site information – Passwords, emails,

user info, user inquiries, and yes, the payment information.  Essentially, if your website has text and is requesting info or action an SSL

is needed.

What the public will see if you don’t

If your website doesn’t have an SSL certificate, it will display a ‘Not Secure’ in the URL bar and place a warning on your website.

Also Remember

The brand power and boost of the credibility that tells the public that “you make every effort to keep all safe.”

Many cautious and higher-level hosting companies won’t continue to service you without it.

 SSL Certificates:

1. Encrypts Sensitive Information

2. Protects You From Cybercriminals

They are clever! According to Cybersecurity Ventures, cybersecurity damages will cost the world over $6 trillion annually by 2021.

Although it’s impossible to escape the rising tide of cybercrime if your website doesn’t have an SSL certificate

they will identify weakness(es) in your network…mostly when information is transmitted.
